Windows Agent Installer Reference

This page provides a complete reference for the NetXMS Windows agent installer command-line options. These options are used for silent (unattended) deployment of the agent.

For installation procedures, see Windows Agent Installation.

The installer ignores configuration file options (/CONFIGENTRY, /NOSUBAGENT, /SERVER, /SUBAGENT, etc.) if a config file already exists. Use /FORCECREATECONFIG to delete and recreate the configuration file. With /CENTRALCONFIG, a local config file is still generated, but the agent downloads the server-side configuration at every startup and overwrites the local file with it — so local config options are effectively superseded.

Configuration Options

Option Description

/SERVER=address

Set server IP address or host name. Sets MasterServers in the generated configuration file.

/CENTRALCONFIG

Enable configuration download from server on startup. When enabled, the agent reads its configuration from the management server instead of a local file. See Agent Configuration for details.

/LOCALCONFIG

Use local configuration file. This is the default behavior.

/CONFIGENTRY=value

Add any parameter to the configuration file during initial install. Can be specified multiple times to add multiple lines. Section names can be added this way as well.

/CONFIGINCLUDEDIR=path

Set folder containing additional configuration files. Sets ConfigIncludeDir in the configuration file.

/LOGFILE=filename

Set agent log file. Sets LogFile in the configuration file.

/FILESTORE=path

Set directory for storing files uploaded by management server(s). Sets FileStore in the configuration file.

/FORCECREATECONFIG

Delete existing agent configuration file and recreate it. Settings stored by the installer in Windows registry are used if not explicitly specified by command-line parameters. See /IGNOREPREVIOUSDATA.

/IGNOREPREVIOUSDATA

Ignore any settings from previous install that are not explicitly specified in the current run. This applies to settings changeable in GUI mode (e.g., list of selected subagents), which are stored in the Windows registry.

Tunnel Configuration

Option Description

/TUNNEL

Enable tunnel operation to the address specified with /SERVER=. Adds both ServerConnection and MasterServers directives to the configuration file, one pair per semicolon-separated address.

/NOTUNNEL

Disable tunnel operation. This is the default.

Subagent Selection

Option Description

/SUBAGENT=name

Add subagent loading directive to the configuration file. Can be specified multiple times. Available subagents: BIND9, FILEMGR, LOGWATCH, MQTT, NETSVC, PING, SSH, WINEVENTSYNC, WINPERF, WMI, UPS.

/NOSUBAGENT=name

Disable the named subagent. Can be specified multiple times.

WINPERF subagent is enabled by default on Windows installations. Use /NOSUBAGENT=WINPERF to disable it.

Installation and Service Options

Option Description

/DIR=path

Set installation directory. Default: C:\NetXMS.

/REINSTALLSERVICE

Reinstall the Windows service during upgrade.

/MERGETASKS="tasknames"

Comma-separated list of installation tasks. Prefix a task name with ! to deselect it. Possible values: fspermissions (set hardened file system permissions), sessionagent (install session agent), useragent (install user support application). Example: /MERGETASKS="!fspermissions,useragent"

Inno Setup Standard Options

Option Description

/SILENT

Run the installer without the wizard UI, showing only a progress bar.

/VERYSILENT

Run the installer without any UI at all.

/SUPPRESSMSGBOXES

Suppress all message dialogs. Only effective when combined with /SILENT or /VERYSILENT.

/LOG

Create a log file in the user’s TEMP directory detailing file installation actions.

/LOG=filename

Same as /LOG, but writes to the specified path. Overwrites the file if it already exists.

Uninstallation Options

The uninstaller application is named unins000.exe (or similar unins???.exe) and is located in the agent installation folder (C:\NetXMS by default).

Option Description

/SILENT

Run the uninstaller without the wizard UI, showing only a progress bar.

/VERYSILENT

Run the uninstaller without any UI at all.

/SUPPRESSMSGBOXES

Suppress all message dialogs. Only effective when combined with /SILENT or /VERYSILENT.

/LOG

Create a log file in the user’s TEMP directory.

/LOG=filename

Same as /LOG, but writes to the specified path.

/NORESTART

Prevent automatic reboot even if it would be necessary.

Examples

Basic silent install with server address:

nxagent-{product-version}-x64.exe /VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /SERVER=10.0.0.1

Install with tunnel, custom subagents, and additional config entries:

nxagent-{product-version}-x64.exe /VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /SERVER=10.0.0.1 /TUNNEL /SUBAGENT=UPS /SUBAGENT=FILEMGR /CONFIGENTRY=ZoneUIN=15 /CONFIGENTRY=[FILEMGR] /CONFIGENTRY=RootFolder=C:\

This generates the following entries in nxagentd.conf:

ZoneUIN=15
[FILEMGR]
RootFolder=C:\

Reinstall with forced config regeneration:

nxagent-{product-version}-x64.exe /VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /FORCECREATECONFIG /IGNOREPREVIOUSDATA /SERVER=10.0.0.1 /SUBAGENT=WINPERF /SUBAGENT=FILEMGR

Uninstall silently:

"C:\NetXMS\unins000.exe" /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /VERYSILENT /NORESTART
